Visit from Jerry, Tanya's Dad

We had a really nice visit this week from Jerry Hoogerwerf, Tanya's dad. He was on a trip to Tanzania and got to come down to South Africa for a visit. We surprised him with a trip up to Hluhluwe Game Reserve up in the northern part of KwaZulu Natal. It is about a 4 hour drive from Port Edward. Part of the package we purchased was a three hour game drive in the park. We were fortunate enough to see a lot of game, including giraffes, rhinos, wildebest, warthogs, zebra, baboons, and even a forest cobra crossed the road in front of us. That same morning we went to a real Zulu village. They had us say greeting to each of the people we met in Zulu. We now know to say "Yebo" whenever anyone says anything to you. It seems to have lots of meanings from "hello" to "yes" to "cool man." The next day we went to the St. Lucia Wetland Reserve. There we saw lots of hippos and crocodiles.

I don't remember if I mentioned that we bought a car. Well, if not, we bought a car. Actually, I'm not sure if I should decribe it as a car. It is a 1984 Toyota Corolla. It isn't much to look at, but it runs well and we shouldn't have to worry about anyone stealing it. I'll post pictures of it later. It is, as we'vew been describing, manilla folder yellow.

Oh yea, believe it or not, I took these pictures. I'll post more of them on the flickr page soon. To make it easier to find the flickr page, I have added a link to it over on the right side of the page called "Our photo page." --->

Gotta run. Hope everyong is doing well!
